My Brother, the Salt Lake City Criminal Defense Lawyer

Not too long ago, my older brother decided that he wanted to become a Salt Lake City criminal defense lawyer. He announced this to our family one night at dinner and of course, we were all ecstatic. Having been to law school himself, my dad knew just how hard it would be for my brother to fulfill his dream of becoming a Salt Lake City criminal defense lawyer. My dad also knew just how hard being a criminal defense lawyer actually is. However, my dad also knew that with a little bit of determination, my brother would be able to accomplish his dream.

To become a Salt Lake City criminal defense lawyer, my brother would first need to graduate from a four year university with a Bachelor’s degree. My brother chose mechanical engineering as his major simply because he enjoyed the subject. When applying for law schools, the administrators care more about how well the student did in school and their final grade point average than they do about the subject that he has studied.

After college, my brother took the LSAT, or Law School Admissions Test. This exam is designed to test the reasoning ability of the student. My brother’s scores on the LSAT were then sent to the law schools of his choice. He was accepted into one of those schools and then spent the next three years committed to his studies. The first two years of any law school program are dedicated to learning the general application of the law and how to do things like write briefs for a judge or how to act during a deposition. In the final year of law school, the student is allowed to study whichever subject they find most interesting.

For my brother, this meant that he spent the last year learning about how to conduct himself during a trial and all of the particulars of criminal law. I would even say that it was only during his last year of schooling that my brother learned what it meant to be a Salt Lake City criminal defense lawyer. After graduating from law school and passing the bar exam, my brother became a criminal defense lawyer, working at a well-established law firm. Now my brother spends his days helping innocent people. There are people that come to him for any number of problems. Some people have been accused of simple things like driving under the influence or petty theft. There are other people that come to my brother with bigger problems on their hands. Some of these people have been accused of murder or other heinous crimes. In these cases, my brother does everything in his power to make sure that the innocent are never convicted of crimes that they did not commit.

There are times when this can be hard; there are many very judgmental people out there that believe that the individual is guilty as soon as they are accused. It is against these people that my brother must defend his clients and prove that they are innocent until they have been proven guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt. While my brother’s job as a Salt Lake City criminal defense lawyer is not easy, my brother tells me that it is worth all the pain and struggle that he goes through. He says that he loves to see the faces of his clients when he has proven that they are not guilty and all charges against them have been dropped. There is a certain amount of satisfaction that he gets when he helps his clients. Even though the road to becoming a Salt Lake City criminal defense lawyer has not been easy, it has definitely been a good choice for my brother.
